Micro-blogging platform Twitter has become a popular social networking tool for U.S. businesses. Across the Atlantic, however, European companies have yet to embrace it. Here are a few tips from Shel Israel, author of the upcoming bookTwitterville, that can help you navigate Twitter.
–It takes a while to understand what’s going on on Twitter. So you should read several posts, or Tweets, before you start sending your own.
–Use the Twitter search tool to find people who Tweet on subjects that are useful or interesting to your company.
–Use Twitter as a conversational tool more than a broadcast tool. It is very often a better venue for learning than informing.
–Twitter is not a mass media tool, but a tool of engagement. The number of posts is less important than the quality of the conversations you have.
